ABOUT

Joel Varghese Johnson is a journalist, song writer and poet based in Doha, Qatar. He started his career by interning with Al Jazeera English and Gulf Times. At present, Johnson is a reporter at The Peninsula newspaper specialising in Business, Economy and Finance.

Johnson was born and raised in Doha and did his entire schooling from MES Indian School, Qatar. He then earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Madras Christian College and holds a Diploma in Visual Communication from Loyola College Chennai, affiliated to the University of Madras, India. Later on, he pursued a Master's Degree in International Journalism from Sheffield Hallam University, UK.

Johnson has interviewed several delegates including the Ambassador of United States to Qatar Timmy Davis, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Qatar Javier Carbajosa Sanchez, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Qatar Mahir Aliyev, and several United Nations and High Representative Ministry officials.
